Overview


Condition: Blue's guiding principle of behaviour is: "Fun for Everyone".

The rules in this Code of Conduct encompass the conduct expected of all our attendees, however, they do not supersede any local, provincial or federal laws, or policies of our venue.

Because Forest City Media and Entertainment, Inc. is responsible on behalf of Condition: Blue to the hotel for the behaviour of its members, this Code of Conduct applies for the duration of members' time on the hotel premises regardless of whether the convention has officially begun or ended.

To provide a fun, safe and comfortable environment for all convention attendees, each member attending Condition: Blue is bound by the terms and conditions of this Code of Conduct.


Minors

All individuals for the purposes of the convention under the age of nineteen as of July,27th,2012 are minors.

Minors below the age of fourteen will require parental and/or legal guardian supervision at all times in convention space. Minors between the ages of fourteen and eighteen will require parental and/or legal guardian consent to attend Condition: Blue.

Minors that are under the age of eighteen at any time during the convention must present a signed and notarized parental permission form unless accompanied by a parent or able to produce evidence of legal emancipation. There are no exceptions.

Parents and/or legal Guardians giving consent must be over the age of majority.

Minors are not permitted under any circumstances to enter areas that have been designated for mature audiences. Attempts to enter these areas may be grounds for removal of membership from Condition: Blue

Anyone providing false documentation of identity or age will be denied membership and reported to the police.


General Behaviour

Our host hotel has public spaces in which members of Condition: Blue will be expected to keep civil in their speech, dress and conduct. Members are reminded that families with children might be in these public spaces and should adjust behaviour to match a family setting.

During the convention, there will be adult only content, meaning eighteen or nineteen and above, depending on what the content is. These events include, but are not limited to, any event where alcohol is served or any event with mature language, themes or with any mature content.

Convention staff will monitor any adult event, materials and adult materials that are for sale. This will be to ensure that the content of these events and any materials are kept from the viewing public and minors.

Unacceptable behaviours that are considered violations of this Code of Conduct include, but are not limited to, wearing unacceptably revealing clothing, openly displaying adult artwork and/or merchandise, overly lewd public displays of affection and any accessories of an inappropriate nature such as diapers outside of clothing and bondage gear. Leashes / Collars may be worn but may not be held by anyone else.

Other unacceptable behaviours, considered to be violations of this Code of Conduct also include public slander and any other action that reduces another attendees enjoyment of the convention, such as stalking or violence causing either physical or mental harm.

Any member of Condition: Blue who is unable to keep themselves clean, presentable and non-offensive to the sensibilities of the other attendees may be removed from the convention space until they have cleaned themselves to an acceptable level. This includes poor hygiene.

Shirts, pants, and acceptable footwear must be worn when in areas of the hotel or convention centre that are accessible to non-Condition: Blue attendees, such as lobbies and restaurants. Acceptable footwear is footwear that either has a rubber or non-slip sole and is not any form of sock, including threaded socks. The pool area is excluded from this.

For safety reasons, fursuits are not permitted in the hotel swimming pool or sauna areas.

Sleeping anywhere on hotel property, except in your hotel room, is not permitted. Sleeping in any location other than your room may result in ejection from Condition: Blue. Each offender can have up to three warnings before further action may be taken. Any offenders found sleeping in any location other than a hotel room also agrees to have their photograph taken for reference in these warnings.

Condition: Blue events and function spaces are open only to members, and all attendees should wear their badges, in an easily visible manner, at all times. A badge is valid only for the person to whom it was issued; badges may not be shared under any circumstances. Failure to comply can result in the lost of the shared badge without a refund.

Attendees of Condition: Blue are expected to present themselves in a clean and hygienic fashion during the convention. Any attendee who is deemed to be olfactory offensive to the general populace of the convention will be asked to shower and/or change. This includes, but is not limited to, excessive amounts of scented beauty products and poor hygiene. Attendees may be asked to retire to their rooms/leave convention space until the offending scent is removed. Condition: Blue is to be considered a scent free environment.

There is no smoking in the hotel property, including the guest rooms. Smokers are asked to exit the hotel, if they wish to smoke. Cigarette butts must be disposed of properly and not left on the ground. Please note that municipal and provincial laws outlaw smoking within public areas within buildings, and the entire hotel is designated as a smoke-free zone. Any smoker caught smoking in contradiction to municipal and provincial laws may have fines and possibly jail time levied against them.

Do not affix anything to the walls of the hotel, to the elevators, to any signage, or to hotel room doors. Door hangers are acceptable. Condition: Blue provides a message board in a public area where members may post messages or place announcements. Anyone caught violating this rule will be responsible for any cost incurred. Furthermore, if any damage is incurred in any room within the hotel, it is the responsibility of the attendees' that have their name on the hotel room to pay for those damages.

No signs offering good or services will be allowed to be worn on your person, regards of the monetary value of the good/service. Including but not limited too, no free hugs, free glomps or art for food signs are allowed.

The offering for sale of any merchandise at the convention may be undertaken only in the authorized selling locations by authorized sellers; in all cases the sale will be governed by the rules applicable to those areas. It is forbidden to sell any other merchandise or services in any other areas.

At peak times when the elevator traffic becomes too congested, it may be necessary for Convention Security to handle traffic flow. Attendees are requested to form orderly lines and wait for an elevator as instructed. The following are permitted to move to the head of the line without question (in order of priority):

  1. Non-convention attendees (including deliveries)
  2. Those with impaired mobility
  3. Fursuiters (with ONE handler)
No other exceptions will be made.

Service animals are permitted in convention space, however convention staff will require proof that the animal is licensed by a government or government sponsored organization. The papers for service animals should be presented when the attendees present themselves at registration. The service Animal will be provided a convention badge upon request to easily identify that convention staff has already verified the Animal is working and not simply a pet or education animal for a panel. This badge is not required to be worn on the Animal if the owner decides they do not wish to use it.

Food or drink not purchased from the hotel is not permitted in convention space.

Any lost items should be taken to Operations where they will be kept in our lost and found until the end of the convention. Any unclaimed items left in the Lost and Found after Condition: Blue may end up in the Charity auction for Next year. If you have lost anything at the convention, Please make a claim with Operations so we can return the item if found. Condition: Blue and Forest City Media and Entertainment Inc will not be held responsible for any items Lost or found at the Convention.


Controlled and Illegal Substances

Condition: Blue is not a dry convention, however; only drinks purchased within the convention space will be allowed in that space. In addition, any drinks purchased within the convention space must stay and be consumed in the convention space. Convention members observed to be visibly intoxicated in public convention space will be asked to return to their hotel room.

Condition: Blue has a zero tolerance policy towards illegal substances. Any convention member found to be using, selling or otherwise distributing any controlled substance will have their membership immediately revoked, and will be immediately reported to the local police.

Anyone knowingly or unknowingly providing alcohol to anyone under the age of nineteen will be turned over to the authorities. It is the sole responsibility of persons serving alcohol in room parties to ensure that every person consuming alcohol is over the age of nineteen.


Weapons and Replicas of Weapons

No functioning or realistic appearing firearm may be carried or displayed in convention space at any time. While we do allow for Nerf style weapons at the convention, Any Weapon that fires any other projectile is not allowed ( IE Airsoft weapons or Paintball Guns, loaded or otherwise) Any such firearm will be confiscated for the duration of the convention. Severe violations where bodily harm is caused may result in the weapon being given to the authorities.

Edged weapons, including utility knives, can not be worn. This is a rule of the hotel, though temporary exceptions may be made for newly purchased weapons carried DIRECTLY to one's room or out of the hotel. Fake swords with no edge or sharp point may be worn for costume purposes but may not be used in any swordplay. Posing for a picture excluded.

Brandishing any weapon for any reason is not allowed, and will result in the confiscation of the weapon for the duration of the convention, a warning from security and may result in ejection from the convention. Repeated warnings will result in revocation of membership.


Photography and Video Filming

Photography and video filming by convention members for personal use is generally allowed in all common areas of Condition: Blue. Please note that there is no photography or filming allowed in the authorized selling location of materials for sale. Show courtesy when photographing or filming individuals or costumes and ask permission first. If an individual does not wish to be photographed or filmed, please respect their wishes. Any complaints received by security will be taken seriously and any offenders may have their badge revoked at the discretion of security.

Photography, filming, or taping for the purpose of sale, publication, public media, or dissemination is expressly prohibited without written authorization from Condition: Blue. All pictures, film, and tape shall be for personal use only.

All journalists, media photographers, and any other members of the press are required to display an official Condition: Blue Press Badge and be accompanied by a member of Condition: Blue staff at all times while in the convention space. Members of the press who have not been issued a Press Badge may not conduct interviews or take photographs, audio or video footage and may be subject to ejection from convention space without refund of any registration fees paid.

Media representatives who do not have Press Badges and are not escorted by Condition: Blue staff member should be reported to Convention Security staff or to Convention Operations immediately.


Violation of the Code of Conduct

Any members attending Condition: Blue violating the rules set out in this Code of Conduct will be warned only once. A second offence may result in any of the following:

  1. Confiscation of their convention badge without a refund,
  2. Revocation of their membership privileges with no refund for the remainder of the convention or for a time deemed appropriate,
  3. Lifetime ban from all future Forest City Media and Entertainment, Inc. events.


Dealers

Dealers will be given a ribbon for themselves and may request a ribbon for One helper This ribbon will allow access to the dealers den during setup and closing times when the Den is closed to the general attendance of the Convention.

Only Dealers and Helpers are allowed behind dealer's tables. Please keep bodies behind the table within reason for the space. Space is limited behind most tables.

Unless explicitly requested tables will not be provided with electricity or space behind them for display purposes. Condition: Blue will make every attempt to accommodate special requests for dealers but all requests will be handled on a first come first serve basis and we cannot guarantee anything beyond the table space purchased by the attendee.

Minors can be easily identified by their convention badges, examples are available at registration. Dealers are responsible to policing their own materials. If you are in doubt, you can ask your client for identification before allowing him or her to view your wares

Adult material is to be kept out of public view and should only be brought out at the request of an adult. Adult materials and merchandise must be kept separate from other materials and merchandise and they must have coverings over male and/or female genitalia and female nipples. A clearly marked and closed binder will be considered to be out of public view so long as the book is kept closed while on display.

Flashing/rotating lights, sound generators or other excessively annoying displays will not be permitted. Video soundtracks or other audio need to be kept at such a volume that they do not annoy customers or other dealers.

No table space may be shared with or resold to another dealer without the prior consent of Registration. Requests for refunds on dealer's Table must be requested no later then 60 Days from the Convention. No refunds will be given after this time.

Condition:Blue and its parent company are not liable for any damage to merchandise, loss of revenue or lost items at the convention.

Items that may not be sold currently include but are not limited to (Items subject to change)

  • Any item prohibited by Canadian Law
  • Any functional Weapons that are not covered by Canadian Law
  • Any food or drink.
  • Any item deemed to be obscene by the convention staff
  • No pirated material

Dealers are responsible for obtaining their own tax licences should they be required to do so under Canadian law.


Convention Security

Convention security volunteers enforce our Code of Conduct. The Badge Rank of “Joker” will denote a member of Staff

On first offence, violators will be warned only once. A second offence may result in any of the following:

  1. Confiscation of their convention badge without a refund
  2. Revocation of their membership privileges with no refund for the remainder of the convention or for a time deemed appropriate,
  3. Lifetime ban from all future Forest City Media and Entertainment, Inc. events.
In extreme cases, at the discretion of security, any warnings may be bypassed for violators of this Code of Conduct.

Convention badges are the property of Condition: Blue for the duration of the convention and must be presented and/or surrendered to any Condition: Blue staff member upon request. If you have a complaint about any action taken by a staff member, you may take the matter up with the Head of Operations and Security. While every attempt at reasonable complaint resolution will be made, behaviour that threatens the well being of our members will not be tolerated.

Should an Acrylic convention badge need to be revoked, it will be shipped to the place of residence on file for that badge after the convention.


Charity Auction

Any attendee wishing to participate in the Charity auction agrees to the following Rules:

  1. Any bid made by an attendee will be taken as valid and will be deemed a legally binding contract to pay for any winning bids directly after the auction.
  2. Bids cannot be paid in instalments or after the convention unless permission is given by convention staff before/during the auction. This will usually only apply for very large bids/ Out of Country attendees. Please ask at Operations before the auction if you need special permission in bidding.
  3. Any combined winning bid under $1000 will be donated on behalf of Forest City Media and Entertainment.
  4. Any combined winning bids of more then $1000 can be made on behalf of the attendee if they request it. A tax receipt in their name will be provided by Salt Haven Wildlife after the Convention.
  5. Please bid responsibly and within your means.


Revocation of Membership

Condition: Blue prides itself in welcoming people from all walks of life, but we acknowledge that we also have a responsibility to help ensure the safety of all convention goers. Thus: Any member who is deemed by the chairman of Condition: Blue (or the Board of Directors for Forest City Media and Entertainment, Inc.) to have seriously violated these Rules of Conduct may have their membership suspended for the duration of the convention.

Additionally, that individual is automatically prohibited from registering for the next year's convention as well as any subsequent events sponsored by Forest City Media and Entertainment, Inc. until such time as their attendance is approved by the Board of Directors of Forest City Media and Entertainment, Inc.

A suspended member may appeal their suspension in writing, and only in writing, to the Board of Directors at 1610 Purser Street, London, Ontario, N5V5J3 before the next convention. The Board of Directors reserves the final authority to grant or deny membership.

If a member is prohibited from hotel premises by the hotel management for any reason, Condition: Blue has no choice but to revoke current membership and deny future membership for the duration of the hotel ban.

Condition: Blue reserves the right to change, amend, or modify these rules at any time without prior notice.


Refunds

A full refund will be given to attendees who notify Condition:Blue registration via E-mail or Snail Mail postmarked no later then May,31st ,2012. After this date no refunds or exchanges will be honoured. E-mails can be sent to registration@conditionfurry.ca or Mailed to 1610 Purser St. London, Ontario N5V 5J3


Properties and Rights

The name "Condition: Blue" is the property of Forest City Media and Entertainment, Inc., and must not be used in any fashion that disparages or dilutes that property. Members agree to remove from circulation or publication any image or recording that in the sole opinion of Forest City Media and Entertainment, Inc. misrepresents or defames its property.
